Casual - Cross Platform Journalist - Sydney TV Newsroom

We are looking for Level 2 and Level 3 casuals to join our SBS World News team. 

A Level 2 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement has a base salary range of $68,239 - $89,139, (full time equivalent). A Level 3 role has a base salary range of $89,140 - $96,482 (full time equivalent). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework with casual loading.  

As a rostered shiftworker, additional shift penalty payments may apply for work performed outside of ordinary hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per the SBS Enterprise Agreement (EA). SBS may also require you to work reasonable overtime, where overtime will be paid at applicable rates in accordance with the EA.

The Role 

The Casual Cross-Platform Journalist is responsible for researching, compiling, reporting, producing news and feature content across SBS News platforms. The ideal candidate will be experienced in researching, writing, producing, voicing and editing news and feature scripts primarily for SBS World News platforms using both international and locally sourced material. They will also provide content for audio and other digital platforms.     

They must also be available to work a seven-day roster. 

About you 

We are looking for someone who brings: 

  • Experience in journalism, news reporting and content production tasks for multiple platforms including TV, Audio and Online. A strong interest in and knowledge of current international and national events with the ability to identify and source interviews and information for robust news stories. 

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work quickly under pressure and meet tight deadlines. 

Ideally you will be: 

  • A creative journalist who can generate original news content ideas and treatments. 

  • An effective communicator and consider yourself a team player. 

  • Be able to travel for breaking news coverage and work a seven-day shift work roster.
